Frieza (フリーザ Furīza?, or Lord Frieza), also alternatively romanized as Freeza, is a fictional supervillain of the Dragon Ball universe created by Akira Toriyama, who first introduced the character in his manga Dragon Ball, followed by its anime adaptation Dragon Ball Z. Frieza also appears in the television special Bardock: The Father of Goku, a few Dragon Ball Z movies, the side story The Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, and in Dragon Ball GT. At the time of his appearance, Frieza is feared even by North Kai. He is a tyrant and rules most of the north quadrant of the universe and the one that destroyed the Saiyans homeworld, Planet Vegeta. He was grievously injured by Goku during their fight on the doomed Planet Namek, and blew up along with it. Miraculously he survied, becoming a cyborg. Him and his father then attemped to invade earth, but where quickly killed permanetly by Future Trunks.
His name is a pun on freezer, a normal household appliance.
